A guide to the morning blend

Mineral Moss has almost no flavour of its own, which is the practical reason it disappears into so many things. Here are four starting points, from quickest to slowest.

The thirty-second one

One tablespoon into hot water, stirred until it loosens. Most people begin here and a good number never move on, which is not a failure of imagination. It works.

Into coffee or tea

The same spoonful, stirred into whatever you were already making. It thickens very slightly and otherwise stays out of the way.

The blended one

Banana, a spoonful of Mineral Moss, oat milk, cinnamon. It gives a smoothie body without anything powdered, and it is the version most likely to convert a sceptical household.

The best blend is the one still in your kitchen in six weeks.

Into cooking

Stirred through a soup, a broth, a sauce or a stew near the end, where it dissolves and adds natural body. This is the one people forget is available.

How much

One to three tablespoons a day, and one tablespoon is the place to start. If you are new to sea moss, stay at one for a fortnight before you think about anything else. There is no benefit to hurrying it.

Both formats work for all four. Mineral Moss Gel is ready to use, and Mineral Moss Raw is for making your own.

Mineral Moss contains naturally occurring iodine. Do not use if you take thyroid or blood-thinning medication or have a thyroid condition. Seek medical advice if pregnant or breastfeeding. It is a food, and not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet.
